National Drive Electric Month( NDEM) 2025 Celebrated at Creighton University
Friday, Oct 3, 2025 – 1-3pm
Our Omaha EV Showcase event was located on the Creighton University Campus in the parking lot on the west side of St. Johns Catholic Church. We had nine electric vehicles on display:
2022 Chevy Bolt
2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E
2023 Ford F-150 Lightning
2024 Kia Niro Electric
2018 Nissan Leaf
2018 Nissan Leaf
2025 Tesla Y
2025 Volkswagen ID.Buzz
2023 Volvo XC40
The VW ID.Buzz was the only vehicle displayed by a dealer. The rest were provided by private owners.
Our event was scheduled from 1 to 3 PM on Friday, Oct. 3. Although this was a good time for student pedestrian traffic, there were few non-students. Many visitors commented that electric cars are too expensive, and we educated them about the affordability of used EVs, and we had several owners with older EVs to explain the benefits of their vehicles.
The Volkswagen ID.Buzz was the highlight of the show!
In addition to our EV information booth, Nebraska Sierra Club and Green Bellevue also had tables at our event.
Special thanks to April Thompson, Creighton’s Sustainability Project & Reporting Coordinator, for all her help handling the arrangements with our host and providing tables, chairs, and refreshments. A Jesuit Priest even came to our event and blessed the vehicles!
National Drive Electric Week, Sep 23-Oct 1, 2023, is a nationwide celebration to raise awareness of the many benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
